This week's show is on the short and sweet side -- but, it's just a little shorter, and it's my definition of sweet, so don't despair. There's a good reason for that, though. It's been a great week, and that has translated into some of this week's more lively selections. I had to cut things a bit shorter to prepare for traveling to the Horror Weekend convention in Gatlinburg this weekend (featuring guests like ohGr from Skinny Puppy and Doug Jones from "Pan's Labyrinth"). If you're going, perhaps I'll see you there.

For new material this week, you'll hear from the aforementioned Skinny Puppy frontman, ohGr, from his latest solo release, Undeveloped, which may just be his best solo album yet (get it here). He'll also be hosting a special Midnight screening of "Repo! The Genetic Opera" this weekend at the convention in Gatlinburg, TN.

You'll also get a taste of one of the great b-sides to the new Cruxshadows single, Valkyrie, which is now available outside of the convention circuit by clicking here or here. The band is currently hard at work on their forthcoming new album,
As the Dark Against My Halo.

Montréal's Dekoder make their debut on the show this week, with a promising taste of their 2011 demo (available as a FREE download here). If you can imagine finding out that Pat Benatar secretly had a deathrock band on the side during the '80s, you'd be on your way to loving this band.

Rounding out the new material is another track from the brand new Wolves in the Throne Room album, Celestial Lineage. This one showcases a bit more of their ethereal side, yet still arrives in chaos by the end, as they are known to do.

The rest of the show? Splashes of great cinematic post-punk/horror-punk & deathrock, celebration over upcoming American concerts from The Cure, the long-awaited release info for the Brighter Fires full-length, some of the catchiest new industrial in recent memory, and more.

It's hard to believe it's been two weeks since the last episode, but that's the type of time-warping one should expect from almost a week spent at Dragon*Con. Not only did I survive the Con, but I have returned with an armload of new music and some cool stories
to share. So, here's what this show has to offer:

On the topic of D*C-related acts, you'll hear a variation on the new single from The Cruxshadows on this show, which is entitled "Valkyrie." It was, as the tradition now holds, released at Dragon*Con this year, complete with two other new tracks and a couple of different versions. From what I understand, it will be available for purchase (to the rest of the world) soon...

You'll also hear new music from Sapphire Solace, the new project featuring Rick Joyce of The Last Dance and vocalist Velvet Shadow, who did a last minute live performance at Dragon*Con this year on the concourse stage, playing selections from their new album "Shadow Stories."

Also appearing on panels at the Con this year, although not performing live, were the members of Brighter Fires, the band formed by (founding Bella Morte members) Andy Deane and Gopal Metro. Their song, "Glorious," was included on the "Out ov the Coffin" sampler CD that was handed out at the Con this year, and you'll also hear its broadcast premiere on this episode. As mentioned in the show, you can pre-order their new album for only $2.99 right here, prior to its Halloween release date.

Speaking of Bella Morte, you'll hear a great new track from The Gothsicles, whose new album "Industrialites & Magic" actually features a song that's all about wearing a Star Trek uniform while watching (Bella Morte's infamous guitarist) Tony Lechmanski sleep. AS ONE DOES, you know? Don't even try to tell me you haven't tried it.

Also new to the show this week: Fresh darkwave/industrial from Germany's Deied, whose new album is called "Tales from the Sodenliah," an advance cut from the new Ladytron album, "Gravity the Seducer," and some nice minimal ambience from the UK's Ainm, whose album "Zero Spring" has just been released.

Rounding out the show in the heavier department, you'll hear new material from France's Glorior Belli, who recently signed with Metal Blade Records. Finally, I am able to confirm the great news I mentioned last night: California death/doom act, Morgion, has, in fact, reformed (with the "Solinari" line-up) in order to play the next Maryland Deathfest. Read all about it here.
