EPISODE NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS:
We begin this episode with the new Bella Morte song, "One Bright Soul In This Emptiness" (get the maxi-single here). The band has traveled many avenues since its inception in the '90s, and this one sees them shedding the crunchier guitar sound of recent years and heading into post-punk territory, in a very successful way. AND, while you're thinking back to their earlier output, the band is currently raising funds to press their classic "Where Shadows Lie" album on vinyl, so if you need that in your life, you can vote with your wallet right here.
Speaking of bright souls in emptiness, the next thing you hear will be music from the recent film, "The Girl With All the Gifts," as composed by Cristobal Tapia De Veer. A new and stylish development in the already well-established zombie genre is hard to come by, so I put my stamp of approval on this one. See it.
Beyond that, the first full set begins with eagerly-anticipated new music from Philadelphia's Night Sins, whose Dancing Chrome album will be released on May 19th via Funeral Party Records. Pre-order it here. Following that, we hit a couple of classic obscurities, before digging a little deeper into the latest goth-punk opus from PDX's The Bellicose Minds, The Creature. We then round out the set with U.S. goth/post-punk/darkwave band New Today, offering one of many ways to get their new Better Than Death album stuck in your head.

The second set kicks off with the somber darkwave of Skeleton Hands, taken from their just-released Flood Spell EP, which is probably only too happy to lead into a taste of the new Depeche Mode album, Spirit. Belgian darkwave/ebm act Luminance arrives next, with another title track, this one from their new Constance in Sorrow EP. Nashville favorites HR_Lexy follow, with a deeper cut from last year's Slaves to the Light EP, this one also premiering as a video earlier this week. For those near Nashville, the band will be the featured live musical guests at the next edition of our goth danse night, Fascination Street, on Saturday April 8th.
After reaching into the vault for another classic, the second set comes to a brilliant close with the title theme from Jim Williams' excellent score to the equally-excellent new French/Belgian film, "Raw," which I will also take a moment to recommend. Watch the trailer here, and pre-order the soundtrack LP here.

Set three begins with the new single from Sweden's Principe Valiente, the not-Sinatra-related "Strangers in the Night." A classic from Joy Division jumps in next, leading us into a further taste of the new album from Italy's Winter Severity Index. Premieres from France's Night Train to Nowhere and Italy's Tanks and Tears follow next, before closing the set with an overlooked track from The Cold, dating back to 2009, and thereby still sitting close to the door of the last decade's vault.
The fourth set launches us into dark metal territory, beginning with a new one from Germany's Venenum, taken from their bizarre new Trance of Death LP. Mysterious UK act Light of the Morning Star follow closely with a taste of their new gothic metal opus, Nocta, which brings a welcome style and sound back to the table, for me. French-Canadain black metal masters Délétère creep in next, with a taste of their latest, Per Astra Ad Pestilentium, before the show ultimately closes with an epic tale from the new Pallbearer album, Heartless, which just hit stores shelves at the end of last week. You can catch those stand-up gents on tour now.
All of that, PLUS: New synthwave sounds from Night Prowler and Dance with the Dead; Selections from the goth, darkwave, and post-punk vaults; and more!
