Instead
of ranking my choices, I instead place them in an order that flows
smoothly between the various styles, like a normal episode would. The result is a specially curated collection of the songs, artists, and albums that made the
strongest impressions or were attached to the
defining moments of the year that was 2022. During the talk breaks, you will
also hear music from some of my favorite shows and films of the year. And while the accompanying graphic certainly includes the cover art from
a lot of my personal highlights, it acts as more of a representative collage
than a chart. Think of this episode as an augmented greatest hits, if you will...
That said, this is not a rerun. As with every year, there are some releases included here that either slipped through 2022's proverbial cracks, or simply emerged late in the year -- which is why I do these "Best ov" shows in January, so as not jump the gun and overlook the late or the great. So, as you've come to expect each month, you are also getting some brand new music on this episode, including debuts from: Rosegarden Funeral Party, Pilgrims of Yearning, Gaerea, Daniel Hart's "Interview with the Vampire," David Buckley's "The Sandman," and The Newton Brothers' "The Midnight Club."
Without further ado, welcome to the "Out ov the Coffin: Best ov 2022" Edition (aka The January 2023 Episode). I hope you enjoy what I honestly feel is one of the most powerful collections of music I put together each year.
