Welcome to the May 2026 Episode, which is actually coming out before the last possible minute! In fact, this one arrives just after dusk on World Goth Day 2026, which seems like just about the right time, so here we go! The episode begins with brand new goth music from Portland, Oregon's Shadowlands, taken from their new album, simply entitled 004.

After a talk break featuring some of Joseph Bishara's atmospheric soundtrack work from the new film "Hokum," we get to jump into set one with a surprise new single from deathrock masters Altar de Fey. While we're in that vein, we dip into the vaults early for some vintage 1983 Scottish post-punk/deathrock from Twisted Nerve, before giving you the first taste of current Italian deathrockers Horror Vacui's forthcoming album Shadows Sanctuary. From there, we shift gears to the latest single from recently re-emerged "world-goth" legends Dead Can Dance, this one having a beat you can be sure you'll hear at the clubs. We then do a 30th anniversary salute to one of The Cure's less often celebrated album's, 1996's Wild Mood Swings, with a track that features Austin Lynn Austin from The God Machine on drums. Finally, we close the set with the second new single from former Vision Video front-man Dusty Gannon and the Agonal Gasps -- on the eve of their upcoming European tour with Chameleons!

Set two begins with new music from Florida's Astari Nite, who continue their unique flirtations with '90s electronica and Brit-glam on their still-also-darkwave new EP, Medications In Bloom. Catch the lads on tour this summer, including a stop in Nashville at The East Room on July 18th! We then hear a double-shot of new Polish post-punk/darkwave from Cold Union and Undertheskin, before dropping into a more mellow, atmospheric pocket with new music from Canadian act The City Gates. The first of two local (to me) Nashville artists to appear on this episode are up next: Chelsea Motel, with their latest single "Lost It For Yourself." The set then ramps up to a frenzy with a deeper cut from Chile's Diavol Strâin, from their excellent new album Eterno Retorno.

Set three begins with a 20th anniversary double shot from ThouShaltNot, because I could not settle on any one track to represent their 2006 genre-crossing release Land Dispute, an album I spent countless hours with that year -- and as I found out last night, I still know almost all of the words to. Sit down with it some night when you're feeling pensive about how your past relationships have gone. From there, we get some new Ukrainian post-punk/darkwave from Скубут (Skubut), who currently reside in Austria for what I imagine are self-explanatory reasons at this point. New Spanish darkwave from Huir eases in next, followed by a new single from Italian darkwave act Geometric Vision, and we close the set with the second point in this month's Ukrainian trident, the experimental electronic work of Iris Forest.

Set four slides into the dark metal portion of the show with some hard-goth from the new Rival Cults album leading the charge. We then get our second Nashville act of this episode, in the form of the (perhaps unexpected) theatrical black metal act Saidan, who have recently signed with time-honored Italian label, Avantgarde Music for their forthcoming release Fangdriller: Scars Beneath Memory's Wrist. Returning to Ukraine for the third, but not the last, time this month, I was pleasantly surprised to find that a new, incredibly good EP from SVRM had been released, now featuring new member Cronin fleshing out their sound with more bass. New music from Canada's Barren Canyon, comes next, followed by the latest from Sweden's Tårfödd, taken from their new album Mörker täcker livets ljus (Darkness covers the light of life).

Finally, the show closes with a lengthy new track from Argentinian-Italian black metal act Downfall of Nur's new album And the Firmament will Burn to Quench the Pain of this Earth.
