EPISODE NOTES & HIGHLIGHTS:

Welcome to the long-overdue March-April 2026 episode of "Out ov the Coffin." I'll spare you the details of the delays, and instead offer you a longer-than-usual episode here, packed with a stack of new music to catch us up.

As is the tradition with the April show each year, I have included a small tribute to the memory of Rozz Williams, for the anniversary of his death. Since this year marks the 30th anniversary of his final original studio work, 1996's The Whorse's Mouth, this episode is book-ended with selections from that album, plus an additional, traditional piece in the way out.

The first full set begins with more new music from UK newcomers Mouth Ulcers, whose traditional and analog approach to goth and post-punk has captured the attention of fans old enough to be their grandparents, no doubt. From there, we dive into the new album from Chile's Diavol Strâin, who have released what's being called their best work to date, Eterno Retorno. Chicago newcomers Grave Love step in next with a driving new single called "Scorched Earth," leading us nicely into the title track from the new She Past Away record, Mizantrop, which sees the band leaning back towards their earlier, more post-punk sound. Canada's Traitrs step in next with a taste of their newly collected Possessor album, before we close the set with a new single from Los Angeles deathrock/post-punk act Scimitar.

Set two begins by throwing the spotlight on
Feyleux's current tour, in support of their new Phases EP. The North Carolina ethereal darkwave act will appear in Nashville this weekend at the East Room, with Nashville acts Mourning Candle and Stacian, both of whom are featured next in this set with brand new tracks. We then jump to Ukraine for some new post-punk sounds from Delirium's Спіраль Мовчання EP, followed by a taste of Extreme Suffering from Omnihell, who is essentially the new face and direction of popular darkwave/synth act Harsh Symmetry. Finally, the set closes with a song from rising K-Goth act Past Self, taken from their 2023 Die Cry Hate EP, which provided the name of their current tour that rolls through Nashville on April 30th at The East Room

Set three throws us in a time machine to the year 1986 -- a formative year for me, and one which offers many 40th anniversary celebrations on this episode. So many that I put them all into one special bonus set, featuring selections from The CureRed Lorry Yellow LorrySiekieraVirgin PrunesSiouxsie & the Banshees, and Depeche Mode.

Set four returns us to new material, starting with more new Turkish Darkwave, this time from
Ductape, who give us another taste of their forthcoming album. Your friend and mine, Goth Dad, comes bouncing back next, having dissolved Vision Video and reformed under the name Dusty Gannon and the Agonal Gasps. The first of two new singles already released shows longtime fans that the sound and the spirit carries on, even if the name has changed. UK act Spire Circle returns next with some new darkwave, followed closely by the surprising return of world and goth music legends Dead Can Dance, with just one of two new singles they've already dropped this year. A late-2025 debut from UK act Social Youth Cult fogs the place out in Bauhaus-style next, leading to a set-closer from the remarkably talented operatic folk style of Silver Rein's new album Lonesome Bridge.

Set five plunges us into the dark metal territory, beginning with a debut from Ukrainian black metal act Vintregal, then quickly hopping over to new music from Italian avant-black band Diespnea. Catching up on some late-2025 entries, we then hear from Swden's Greve before diving into 30th anniversary celebrations for both Cradle of Filth and Satyricon. Finally, the set closes with the third point of this month's Ukrainian trident, the 20th anniversary of Drudkh's "Blood in Our Wells" album.

And, to close the show, we return to bookend the earlier
Rozz Williams tribute material with my personal mix of two of his later pieces, which together are the closest we got to him leaving a note of explanation on his way out. RIP, Rozz.

All of that PLUS: New soundtrack work from "Exit 8" by
Yasutaka Nakataselections from the cult film, damnbient, and nature music vaults; and more!
